Hi, I'm Nancy Merner, and I'm an assistant professor at Auburn University and the principal investigator of the Gene Machine. My research group studies hereditary breast cancer. In my research lab, we screen your genes to determine why breast cancer is in your family or why you were diagnosed at a young age.

The Gene Machine is a big pink bus that we use for study recruitment and outreach. The Gene Machine travels all over Alabama. We use it to enroll study participants, meet you at community events, and provide cancer education sessions on risk factors.

The pandemic has changed that- we've transitioned our efforts online, so we now provide online education sessions, and we can now enroll study participants online.
